Check Out and Edit

Overview

SuiteFactory allows you to store documents of any type in its database.  In order to make it convenient for a SuiteFactory User to be able to edit and protect these files SuiteFactory has added the following.

Third-Party Applications can be registered within SuiteFactory and allowed access to its database documents in a secure mode for external editing.

Manage Controlled Documents (Check Out and Edit with 3rd-Party or Native Application)

Click on the "Check Out and..." Icon and the following Window will be displayed.

After making a selection click the "OK" or "Cancel" button.  If you clicked the "OK" button the following Window will be displayed.

There are three option of editing the selected document.  See below for details.

Use This File

If you chose this option SuiteFactory will pass a copy of the selected file to the third-party application starting it up.  At the same time this document is marked as out for editing and SuiteFactory will not allow access to it until the document has released from the external application.

New Version

If you chose this option SuiteFactory will make an new internal copy of the original and pass the new copy/version of the selected file to the third-party application starting it up.  At the same time this new/version document is marked as out for editing and SuiteFactory will not allow access to it until the document has released from the external application.

New Name

If you chose this option SuiteFactory will make an new internal copy of the original giving it a new name and passing the new copy of the selected file to the third-party application starting it up.  At the same time this new document is marked as out for editing and SuiteFactory will not allow access to it until the document has released from the external application.

Chose one of the options above and if you have not "Cancelled" the following Window will be displayed.

After editing close the Third-Party Application.
