Communications Engine
Overview
The communications Engine is responsible for providing the data transfers
between the PCs and the machine tools. It can run many instances on
different Virtual Machine Tool Servers for load balancing purposes, customer
settable.
It is also responsible for managing and responding to the commands that are
initiated from the SuiteFactory Runtime such as Abort, Start, Re-Start, etc.
As it is running it is responsible to keep SuiteFactory updated on the
progress of all of file transfers and to update SuiteFactory Runtime when any of
its task are completed. It is a workhorse.
Note: See below for setting the various checkboxes and what these
settings mean.

Shutdown Communications When Shutting Down SuiteFactory Runtime
This should not be changed from the default (checked) unless there is a
technical reason. Contact CCI if you have any questions.
Check File Transfer Queue Interval; Check Communication Status Interval
Leave these at the default values 5 and 1500 respectfully unless there is a
technical reason for changing. Contact "CCI" if you have any questions.
Changing these will affect system response.
Check Communication Status Interval (in milliseconds)
This setting determines how often SuiteFactory checks the database for
commands. This should not be changed with consulting CCI. Generally this
never gets changed.
Allow Editing Parameters While File Transfer Queue Contains Items.
Normally a queue of Jobs would need to be empty before the parameters can be
changed. Checking this checkbox will make these changes happen before the next
job is downloaded.
Serial Port Type
This Drop down Control allows you to select from two different versions of
Sax-Com communication drivers. Unless directed to do otherwise use the default
setting "CommSax (Sax Net)" |
