Edit DNC File Search ColumnsOverviewThis section deals with creating customer defined search criteria fields for managing all of your company's DNC Files. These fields can be critical in managing large databases of DNC Files. Allowing customers to create and populate these fields with meaningful data will make this task of retrieving any DNC File using SuiteFactory's Search Engine a breeze. Exclusive Access Window
Note: The above Window is displayed before allowing you to define search criteria fields. SuiteFactory provides many ways to locate various files. Most systems allow you to search for files only by their file name. This can be very limiting when you have thousands of files and these files may be used for different jobs, machines, etc. SuiteFactory provides the ability to create any number of numeric, date, text , keyword, Boolean, double, single, etc. search fields for the necessary management of all of your files. You can locate any file immediately after creating and populating these fields. See SuiteFactory's SQL Search Engine for information on how to locate any N/C File in SuiteFactory. Configure Window
This screen displays all of the search fields you have created, the type of field, their setting and their order in which they are presented to a User. To create a new field click on the New Button and the following Window will be displayed. New
This Window allows you to create one of 8 types of fields and set their properties. Since the action of creating a new field alters the database there are a few text fields that need names and descriptions that you must to enter. Note: See the following for descriptions. Column NameThis is used by the database in creating the database "Table" and can't contain spaces. Make sure you use a meaning full name as you will view this in the CCI SQL Engine. Column TitleThis is used to display the column viewed by the user and should reflect it's purpose. Column DescriptionThis message is displayed in the status bar of SuiteFactory to aid the user in what should be entered in this field. Access levels are set with rights so some "Users" can view and some can view and Edit. Maximum LengthUsed with Text fields only to specify how many characters will be allowed. Implement as Pick_listChecking the "Implement as Pick-list" box forces this field to be a picklist field. A picklist field is a field whose values are not open ended and provides a choice of limited values that an user can select from to populate this field. Allow Blank Pick_listIf you check this field you will not need to provide a default for the field value. (Not displayed for all field types!) Note: This only applies to a text field. Other value types will provide a default value automatically. Default Picklist ValueIf you have not checked the Allow Blank Pick_list box you will need to provide a default value or the background color will be displayed in "red" indicating you need to provide a default value. Note: By creating as many meaning fields as needed you will aid a Users in finding files. After entering in all of the fields click OK and the Apply Buttons the following screen is displayed.
You may move fields up and down as needed. You can add and edit fields at anytime. You can also remove fields at any time but all data will be lost for that column/field. Click the Close Button. To edit and populate Pick-List fields chose the Up menu on the left and select Edit Picklists Menu.
