Edit PicklistOverviewThe reason for having a Picklist is to provide a limited number of field values that can be be used to populate a search criteria field. Ultimately a User will only see one of these values in the search criteria field. As an example initially an Administrator, who had the rights, would create a picklist field and populate it with a limited number of meaningful values. Next a Manufacturing Engineer who created an N/C File would have the right to select an appropriate value from the populated list to fill the search criteria field. The User, Operator, who views the file would only see the value as created by the Administrator and populated by the Engineer. He could use this search criteria value and other populated field values to locate any files according to the values in these search criteria fields. Selecting a Picklist Field
Note: After selecting a picklist field click on the "Edit Picklist" button and the following Window is displayed. This only appears if there is more then one "Picklist" field. You need to select which "Picklist" field you are dealing with. In this case we will pick "Product" then click the "Edit Picklist" button and the following Window is displayed. Edit Picklist Window
You can enter a possible search criteria value in the right hand top text field and by clicking on the "Add" Button you can add this to the New Entries Window. After clicking the Add button the following Window is displayed.
To save this value to all of the possible values that can populate the search criteria field, clicking on the Save Button. This will bring up the following Window with the picklist values in the left hand picklist Window.
You can add as many values as needed. See the following Window after several values that have been added to the Picklist.
RemoveBy checking the picklist value "SHAFT" it indicates that you want to delete this value from the picklist. Clicking the "Remove" Button will remove this "Picklist" value from the "Picklist" only if this value has not been used in any records. If it has been used in any records it will be moved to the Hidden Entries screen. Now this "Picklist" value will not be available for selecting from the "Picklist" but will not be removed from the database since there are existing records that are using this "Picklist" value. This may be the case if an old part required a particular value but this part is not used any longer but still resides in the database. HideThis is similar to Remove when there are records that have used this value even though this value has not been used. You would select this if you wanted to add this value but not make it available at this time.
