| GeneralOverviewUse this window to select and set the General Settings for global properties for DNC Files. These setting effect versioning, DNC naming conventions, etc. DNC Files (General)Following are the various properties that need to be configured for controlling and managing DNC Files. These are selected by setting the various checkboxes. See below for details on the settings.
Require Single DNC File VersionIf your company allows multiple version of a file (i.e. File maybe slightly different and still be used for older parts) then don't check this off. The default allows for multiple file versions. Force New DNC File Names to UppercaseAny file name entered into SuiteFactory's database will be converted to uppercase regardless of how it is typed. Allow Automatic DNC File Name GenerationWhenever a new file needs to be generated a suggested unique file name will be offered. You will be able to accept it or put in your own name. This can be useful when the name of the file is not important since you are adding and using populated "Search Fields" to locate files. Minimum Generated DNC File Name WidthThis sets the base width of Automatically generated file names. Limit User Rights....Choosing this option limits a 'Users' rights based on where a particular file/document is stored. Lets assume a User belongs in several "User Groups" and each "User Group" has a different set of "Rights". In one of these "User Groups", one with less rights, a Resource Collection has been assigned and contains a file this "User" needs to access. Whatever limited "Rights" this "User Group" has, limits this "User's" access to this file regardless of whatever "Rights" they may have acquired by belonging to other "User Groups" with more rights. If this is not checked the "User" will gain all the "Rights" acquired by each "User Group" he or she belongs in. When a user enters a DNC File name, clicking the "NEW" button:Creates the next version of the selected fileChoosing this option will automatically generate the next version of of a selected file. I.e. If the file you are working with has a name: "xxxxxx" ver 5, when you click new the new file name will be: "xxxxxx" ver 6. Generates a brand-new file nameChoosing this option will always generate a brand new file name for you. Asks the user to choose Next Version or Brand-New NameChoosing this option will allow you to chose between the two options above.
