GeneralOverviewSuiteFactory supports communications using RS232. In order to be able to communicate with SuiteFactory you need to set a few basic parameters that are specific to a particular machine tool such as the workstation & port it is assigned to, etc. See the details below. Machine Properties (General)
Machine Tool NameYou need to Enter a Machine Tool Name that is unique and have meaning for your shop floor personnel. ComputerYou will be presented with a list of Workstations that have been registered in the database. This happens when you install SuiteFactory on the various workstations. Chose the appropriate Workstation. Serial PortYou will be presented with a list of serial ports for the Workstation you chose above. Select the appropriate serial port usually starting at 5 if a RocketPort devise has been installed. Make sure that the appropriate Workstation/serial port has been chosen since setting a workstation/serial combination implies you will be controlling machine tools from this workstation. It assumes that an RS232 cable is attached in some form either directly or virtually (RocketPort Serial Ethernet Hub). Setting these parameters will start up the communication engine. Allow SendChecking this option allows the operation to send part programs to the machine tool. Allow ReceiveChecking this option allows the operation to receive part programs from the machine tool. User Must StartChecking this option forces the the operation to initiate file transfers from the computer. This is rarely used. Call CCI for details if you feel you need this option. Start Monitoring AutomaticallyChecking this option automatically initiates the monitoring window to become active for displaying file transfer activity. User Can Assign Files Queued to ReceiveChecking this option allows the operation to selectively chose which Resource Collection(s) to associate this file with. Normally these files are associates with the Resource Collections previously set by the Administrator. You may want to give this "Right" to a lead hand if he is developing a new part program and wants to chose a different Resource Collection for uploading to. Copy Parameters from Another MachineClick the "Copy Parameters from Another Machine" button displays the following Window. Copy Parameters to Komo mill If you would like to copy selected parameters from one machine tool to another you should select the machine tool and the select which category of parameters you would like to copy. General ParametersGeneral Parameters include everything but "Remote Request Parameters" including: General, Communications, Protocol and Conversions. Remote Request ParametersRemote Request Parameters include everything in the Remote Request Parameters Tab in the Protocol section. BothIf you choose both "General Parameters" & "Remote Request Parameters" this is just like copying all of the parameters from one machine tool to another.
