Resource CollectionsOverviewResource Collections are the repository for all N/C Files and Packets while maintaining associations with Machine Tools, Virtual File Cabinets & User Groups. A machine tool can access an N/C file and or Packet only if they have been assigned to a Resource Collection. See the following for details on creating and using Resource Collections. Main Application (Resource Collections)
To learn more about Resource Collections, click on the "Resource Collections..." Icon and following Window will be displayed. New Resource Collection
To create a new "Resource Collection" click the New button and the following Window will be displayed. Name Resource Collection
To save this name click OK button and the following Window will be displayed. Resource Collection (New Resource)
In order to use "Resource Collections" we need to set several of its properties. Click on the "Properties" button and the following Window will be displayed. PropertiesThe "Resource Collection" properties for the Import Path and Import Behavior need to be set. See the following. Import Path
Note: In order to automatically import files into SuiteFactory's database/resource collection you need to indicate where SuiteFactory can find the files you want to import. Set the path, UNCs are best for network drives, indicating the location of the files where the programmer deposits them after creation. See below how SuiteFactory handles the files after Import. Show Name As .....Checking this box will allow you rename a file when Manually importing a single file. Import Behavior
There are two ways SuiteFactory deals with the original source of imported files. It either deletes them or puts them into a subdirectory. Chose what it best for you. Normalize End-Of-Line BlocksSelect the appropriate End-Of-Line Blocks. Normally the default is correct. Machines Available For QueuingBy clicking on the "Machines Available For Queuing", "Machines That Assign Received DNC Files" and "User Groups" they will be highlighted and various screens will be displayed. You can then select the various options as shown below.
Any of the machine tools displayed on the right hand that you need to send files to, can be assigned to this resource collection by checking the box next to it. There could be many machine tools displayed. You could have Resource Collections where there are machine tools assigned that can be upload from. See the next section for details. Machines That Assign Received DNC Files
Select the "Resource Collection" you want to use to store files received from (a) machine tool(s). Now Highlight "Machines That Assign Received DNC Files" and select any of the machine tools you want to receive files from and store into this "Resource Collection". Resource Collections can have only Receive Machine Tools assigned to them. This may be the case when you want to be able to upload files but not allow files contained in a particular "Resource Collection" to be downloaded to (a) machine tool(s). This strategy can be used when a file that was developed/modified on the shop floor needs to be approved for general use in production. This may be necessary for ISO9000 compliance. User Groups
In order to allow "Users" access to Resource Collections and the Machine Tools, N/C Files and Packets associate with a Resource Collection you need to assign the Resource Collection to that Group. Chose the "User Groups" on the right side that you want to give access to this Resource Collection by checking the box next to it.
