Search Columns

Overview

A system like SuiteFactory can contain hundreds of thousands of files and documents and trying to locate these and or to provide meaningful descriptions is a must. 

SuiteFactory provides its customer the ability to create fields that help describe and locate any file or document within SuiteFactory.  We call these fields Search Columns and these are customer defined and configurable fields.

Search Columns are used for two reasons. The first use is to display the populated data contained in the Search Columns for a User during normal operation while the second is to allow the populated data to be used as part of the search criteria for SuiteFactory's Search Engine which can locate any file meeting this search criteria.

Search Columns main purpose is to allow Users to filter files according to the values in the search columns.

Customers can defined "Search Columns" and populate these with key words, dates and phrases that can be used later to retrieve DNC files that these filters.  This is very import feature for truly managing DNC Files or in fact any "Document".

Edit

Clicking the "Edit" (If nothing has been defined button will read "Define") button will bring you to a Window that allows you to define fields that can be used for searching of documents stored in the database.  See links at the left for details.

Edit Picklist

Clicking on the "Edit_Picklists" button will bring you to a Window that allows you to edit values that are part of a picklist.  See links at the left for details.

Note: Picklists are for use for fields whose values are limited in number. I.e. If you offer a limited number of products with a small number of part numbers. 

Enable Reasons....

Clicking on the "Enable Reasons for DNC File Functions" button will bring you to a Window that allows you to select/de-select reasons for invoking various actions on a file such as editing.  I.e. If you chose to activate this the user will be required to enter "Why he or she" edited this particular file".  See links at the left for details.
