Paper Traveler
The old Shop Floor Paper Traveler contained documents, files, quality instructions, manufacturing instructions and included a set of sequential work process that were used to manufacture a part.
Operation
The Traveler contained paper work that detailed the various individual processes (operations) that were to be followed in order to manufacture the part to the drawing and specifications.
Approval of Processes
These processes were usually approved by Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and Manufacturing.
In-Production Changes
Whenever there were changes to an operation it became a real hassle to modify/replace these paper
operations on the shop floor.
